Apr. 24-27

The warm weather has finally arrived and what a busy week it was! We spent 3 blocks this week doing research for our Passion Projects, continued our unit on fractions and talked about the difference between potential and kinetic energy. If your child didn't get enough research done this week, I've sent home an email to you explaining that they've brought home their project duotang and should spend some time this weekend doing some research. In order to ensure that they don't get too behind, they need to find at least 2 details for each question (there are 2 in English and 2 in French). I will be sending home an additional email next week outlining this project and some checkpoints in order to keep everyone in the loop. Stay tuned!

Next week, we will begin writing our first paragraph for the project, finish our unit on fractions and continue our conversation about potential and kinetic energy. Also, the Grade 4s will be partaking in Track and Field on Monday, April 30th. Please ensure that they come with sunscreen, lots of water and appropriate clothing!

Alongside all the events and research that we did this week, we also began practising our play for the Festival du théâtre. We read through the play once and assigned roles. Early in May, we will begin creating costumes and sets, staging, and memorising lines!

Lastly, the vocabulary words (voyageur, rendezvous, brigade, palisade, portage, and Métis) will stay the same which will spark our conversation about why European colonisers chose to explore Canada.
