I hope that everyone had a great Easter long weekend and an excellent Spring Break!

This week, we did a mini unit on word problems in Math and started our Passion Projects in English/French. For their Passion Projects, the students picked their topics (i.e., something they are passionate about) and we went over the rubric together as a class. This project will take us about two months to complete as it will incorporate many aspects of the curriculum. It will involve creating inquiry questions, researching their topics, writing paragraphs in both languages, providing text element features (e.g., table of contents, glossary, title etc.) and a presentation. As explained in the rubric, those students who want to exceed my expectations and aim for the A/B letter grade, they will also provide more complicated text features (e.g., a map, table or infographic) and a visual presentation (e.g., Google slideshow, poster, tri-fold presentation etc.). They will be given plenty of class time to work on their projects, but they are, of course, welcome to work on it at home. I look forward to learning about a variety of topics throughout this process!

What to look for in your child's agenda/backpack: I handed out a field trip form yesterday for the Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park. On April 20th, we will be attending an all-day Earth Day workshop at the park. The forms and the $6 are due by April 13th!

As our focus for next week will be our inquiry questions for the Passion Projects, our vocabulary words are comment, pourquoi, quand, qui, quel and .
