Happy Friday! This week, we continued our study of multiplication through a city skyline project and various assignments to practice the fundamentals. We also did a project in Science where the students had to describe the three main states of matter and how molecules function in each of those states. In French, we learned about the suffix "able" and continued with our guided reading groups. In English, I read two more chapters of "Touching Spirit Bear" which led to our discussion about physical abuse and alcohol abuse. The students completed a few reflections in order to identify some strategies for staying safe and to think about the people in their lives that are there to keep them safe. Finally, the students selected the French explorer that they wish to do their Instagram project about in Social Studies.
In the upcoming week, we have our field trip to the Big Little Science Centre on Tuesday and a Young People's Concert on Wednesday. Alongside our excursions, we will be diving into our Champlain and Cartier research project and talking about the past tense in French.
Things to look for in your child's agenda: Today, I handed back their vocab quizzes, their Science projects and the FSAs for students in Grade 4. Things to look for this week: The students will be self-assessing their classroom behaviour and then I will provide my opinion next to their responses. This assessment will be sent home and will be their interim report for the term.
