One more week until Winter break! Time sure does go by quickly.
Our Gifts of Kindness unit is in full swing and we spent this morning at a retirement home reading to their residents. It was a super successful field trip as the residents most appreciated the time that they were able to spend with the students. I was super impressed with how friendly and eager the students were to not only share their stories but to chat with them as well. Well done!
I also handed out report cards today. For all Grade 4s, as this is their first year receiving letter grades, I included a handout in their report card outlining what each letter grade represents. If you have any questions regarding a grade or need clarification on a comment written in the report card, I would be most open to meeting in person after the Winter break.
There will be no vocabulary words this week, but we will continue working on decimals in Math and will be talking about problem-solving strategies in our Growth Mindset unit.
A few quick reminders:
1. The Lloyd George Christmas Concert is on Monday at the Sagebrush Theatre. Students are to arrive at 6pm entering through the side door. They are to wear dress clothes, but they can always wear a white top and black bottoms if that is easier.
2. If your child hasn't done so already, they need to bring a flashlight to school on Monday. They will need these flashlights for a song that they will be singing in the concert.
3. Please sign and return the report card envelope so that I know a parent has seen the report card. If you wish to set up a meeting with me to discuss a grade or comment, please indicate that on the envelope. Thank you!
Here's to surviving the last week before the holidays!!!
